2012 my first California Blacktail
Are you asking for a 1911 from colt or browning when they were first produced, because I don't think you can find those unless they are used. But if you are asking for newer 1911's almost every pistol manufacture makes one these days and you can get them as low as $600-700 new these days, and customs ones up into the $10,000 range.
Most are around $900-1300

I.ve Seen A T.V. Show On Discovery About A Gun Shop In North Calorina Owned By Retired BlackOps Soliders. And Some Girl Brought Her Grandfathers .45 That He Had When He Was In W.W.2. She Wanted To Get It Ingraved And Working Again To Give back To Her Grandfather...Anyway She ended Up Selling It To The Owner Of The Gun Shop For $7,000
That .45 was The First Hand Gun I Ever Fired, And I Remember That It Handled Dam Well Even For A Kid (was Around 8)
Think the Name Of The Show Is (Gun Pawn) Or Something Like That. North Calorina Has Some Kind Of Wierd Law Stating That A Gun Pawn Shop Can Only By Law Give Up Tp $7,000 MAX...
I Know The Actual Store Is Close To A Military Base. 3 White Guys & 1 Black Guys....(maybe not Discovery..Tru T.V.)
I have a Springfield Armory 1911 "Loaded model" that I absolutely love! Expensive but well worth the money. Im about to pick up a Springfield "GI model" for $550.00 if I can ever get a few extra bucks to put down on it. The GI model is an exact replica of the U.S. Marines duty pistol that was replaced by the Berretta M9. Imo if 8 rnds of .45 aint enough to stop what youre shooting then you just aint hitting it!
. And I love my S&W 357mag 686 stainless with 4in barrel to death
My old "trusty"
.
You got the right idea with that 629 Smith,Bat my Friend & I used to load 2 to 300 rounds on his press & go shoot all of them up in a nice day out, We shot off the bench & offhand ,I got to where I can hit a 2liter soda bottle every shot offhand @ 65yds, no sweat. Those SMITH & WESSON .44Magnums are more accurate than the shooter can hold , Off the bench 25yds1" groups 6 shots are no problem 50 yds you can keep them all inside of 4-5" or less if you really concentrate,
we loaded everything up to 300grain NOSLER Hollow points,
If you get the .44Magnum, & get into reloading ,you only need to remember two powders Hogdon H110, & Winchester296 they both are about the best for that caliber .
We loaded 300gr. HPs, 240gr. Jacketed Hollow points,& Jktd. Soft Points, from HORNADY,;XTP Hollow Points.
, & 300 JSPs, & Solid LEAD heavyweights from Cast Performance Bullet Co. , CPBCo LBT style 325WFNGC .
I put my Buddy onto a good DEER run here & he got an 8pt {Eastern count} with his 629 S&W .44MAG.
He hit that Buck broadside @ 100yds & it looked like it flipped him over backwards but he jumped when he got hit , & was dead when he hit the ground.
His gun has the 8-3/8" Barrel &Hogue MONOGRIP stocks, the finger groove type & man they fit just right!
I've tried Smith&Wesson 629, S&W 29 both 8-3/8"BBL & 6-1/2" [model29 blue], RUGER SUPER BLACKHAWK .44mag, 7-1/2"BBL I like that Super blackhawk
Freedom Arms model 83 .454 Casull 7-1/2"BBL & M92 PUMA .454Casull Levergun [ It's a model 92 winchester copy] love that gun ,acurate & light ,fast.
Then when I started trying .454Casull we were loading 300, 335, 360, & 370 gr WFLNGC/DC SUPER HARD CAST & HEAT TREATED Solid Lead Hunting Bullets & Hornady 300gr XTP Hollow points That is a whole new issue tho, that .454 HITS with more energy at 100yards than the .44magnum has at the muzzle!! lotsa recoil too but ,whatever you hit with that .454 stays DOWN!!!

I was actually looking at the .460 S&W that was i could shoot .45 colt and .454 casull but my dad said it was to big. Since I can't buy a pistol of my own until I am 21 legally. And the .44 mag has enough to drop brown bears, lions, and water buffalo. I think it will be enough for me.
I also heard that there is an ammo manufacture (I forgot the name) and they load rounds for the .44 mag that are to the maximum pressure limits for the round. They are specially made for dangerous game hunting/protection.
Might load up with those when I am in the "bear woods"
